About
Product-minded engineering for AI systems people can adopt.
I'm Tim Finch, an AI Engineer and AI Deployment Engineer based in London. I work where software, product decisions, customer context, and applied AI need to meet in one useful system.
The work
How I got here.
My work sits between product engineering, AI systems, and the practical work of helping people adopt new technology. I like taking an unclear problem and giving it a shape people can actually use.
That has meant working across product decisions, software delivery, technical communication, and the stakeholder context around a system - not treating implementation as separate from the work it needs to support.
Lately I have been focused on AI deployment: coding agents, evaluation, grounded systems, and the evidence and approval layers that make AI-assisted work easier to trust.
Working style
Product, engineering, and the people who have to live with the result.
I care about the boundary between a technically plausible system and one that fits a real workflow. That means making architecture understandable, keeping decisions close to the user and stakeholder context, and leaving a clear way to tell whether the product is working once it is in use.
- 01Ship fewer things, and make them easy to understand.
- 02Keep boring, predictable architecture in the critical path.
- 03Test and evaluate as you build, not after.
- 04Use design to cut clutter, not add polish.

Background
The through-line is practical systems work: clarify the problem, build the right amount of technology, and make the result legible to the people using it.
